Tell us how the soccer season is going:
improvements: we are starting out our games w/ more intensity than we did at first -the game we played on Friday (against Bluefield) we had some great passing, a lot of 1-2's we played well as a team. we need to work on our first touches, speed, anticipating what is going to happen, and having more intensity and focus in practices, that will translate into how we play in our games. I think this team is good at trusting players, and passing to everyone in game situations and in practice. Also there is no real drama or conflict between girls this year, so i think that unifies us. Goals i've accomplished: scoring a goal! :)Goal i have: giving every practice and game 100% effort.

NATIONALS!!

WE'RE GOING TO NATIONALS!!!!

Here is an article from the SVU website: (link for the website is on the sidebar--)

Knights Receive Bid to USCAA Tournament

Southern Virginia women’s soccer has accepted a bid to the USCAA National Women’s Soccer Championships, which will be held at Vermont Tech from Oct. 30 to Nov. 1.

The Knights are 6-5-1 with two games remaining in the regular season. As of Oct. 15 they are ranked No. 1 in the USCAA standings. Under the guidance of second-year head coach Matt Grawrock, Southern Virginia has seen a complete turnaround from last season’s 5-10-0 team that failed to qualify for the tournament.

Sophomore Courtney Montagna and freshmen Melanee Guymon and Lauren Jensen are tied for the team lead in goals scored with five apiece. Guymon leads the team with four assists for a team-high 14 points.

Freshman defender Tamara Nagle and sophomore goalkeeper Arianne Johnson lead a Southern Virginia defense that has recorded four shutouts and allowed just one goal in four others.

The Knights have recorded victories this season against Trinity, Christendom, Lincoln (Pa.), Columbia Union, Mary Baldwin and Bluefield. They will look to improve to 7-5-1 on Monday at Randolph College in Lynchburg, Virginia. The regular season concludes on Oct. 27 at Lees McCrae.

Southern Virginia has a rich tradition at the USCAA National Tournament with four titles (1998, 1999, 2005, 2006) and second-place finishes from 2000 to 2004.

If you could have any super power, what would it be and why?
Well, seeing as though I already have the super power of not feeling pain, I would have to ask for number two super power to be to repell bugs... I hate bees.

If you had to eat one food for the rest of your life, what would it be and why?

One food eh? hmmm, I would have to go with potatoes. There is not one form of potatoes on this planet that i have yet to partake of that has disappointed me.

If you could have any job regardless of pay or school, what would it be and why?
I think I would be a stand-up comedian who paints murals in peoples rooms and takes pictures in Hawaii

Tell us how you think the season is going-
Ive seen SO much improvement during this year, especially being able to attend every game except the trinity game, I have seen many of the girls improve tremendously! Watching all the games from the sideline is really hard for a player like me, who can't really control the fact that I can't play, but having girls on the field who work has hard as they can for the full 90 minutes makes me really happy! I thnk we're going to do well in nationals and hopefully walk away with a title!! But i do hope there aren't any bees... and some sunlight that would be nice, Vermont sounds cold...

Third Time Is a Charm

After suffering through old uniforms, and uniforms that didn't work, we went with a name brand and the team looks great. They earned them on Tuesday against Ferrum, and will look to dominate on Friday against Columbia Union. Enjoy the photo.

Tell us about the game against Trinity:
A good first win. We need to work on being more aggressive and going all in. We shouldn't be afraid to sacrifice our body 100%. We need to win 50/50 balls. We need to go harder than the other team everytime and we'll always win. Its a proven Tamara Fact that if you go in harder not afraid to sacrafice your body then you wont et hurt.. but they might.. Also, touches... GOOD FIRST TOUCH IS A MUST!!!

Random Stuff

The past week has been fun. Wednesday the team played their first game, and then today the team received their uniforms for the season. You read that correctly. The uniforms showed up hours after we left for our first game. Ironic. The games went well and the team won 4-1 over Trinity College in D.C. Finishing left something to be desired as we fired off 39 and could only convert on 4. Oh well. A win's a win. a full rundown of the game will be upcoming. The uniforms look good, even if they are a little small. What can you do?
Here are some practice photos for people to have fun looking at.
